NAGROTA, Nov 30: Saying Nagrota is poised to get a big push in coming years, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today hailed the people for remaining steadfast in their pursuit of steering this constituency to progress and prosperity.
“Governmental efforts alone are not guarantee for development of any area unless the people become part of the process”, Mr Rana said in a series of election meetings Bajalta, Nagrota, Badsoo and Tada.
Mr Rana, NC candidate from the constituency, said believing in participatory democracy, National Conference has always carved out a bigger role for people in the decision making. He said this process took off from the historic decentralisation initiatied by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and continues to remain guiding force for the party and its cadre.
“Realising their crucial and important role in decision making, the politically sagacious people of Nagrota have prioritised a mega plan for remodelling the constituency as Nava Jammu”,  he said, adding this vision is bound to unfold itself into a reality, given their grit and determination. He said the people of the constituency have reposed their trust in him and he will leave no stone unturned to achieve this objective.
He emphasised the significance of Nagrota as a pivot of future expansion of the capital city and assured the people that the day is not far when this becomes reality. He exhorted them to gear up for remodelling the constituency on fast track basis.
Mr Rana said Nava Jammu is catching the imagination of people even beyond the constituency, keeping in view its potential to meet the requirements of fast expanding Jammu city. He said the area should have been developed since but lack of attention and imagination has deprived it of its rightful place. “Let’s all join in pursuing this stupendous task in a big way and ensure holistic development of the area”, he added.
Referring to the ongoing election process, Mr Rana expressed the hope about National Conference emerging as a force to reckon with.  “A stable and strong government is need of the time”, he said and hoped the party will form the new Government with clear majority.
He said National Conference is the only party that has been striving to ensure development of all the regions and promotion of various areas as per their potential. In this context, he made a mention of the developmental effort taken during the past nearly six years by Omar led Government and said the results are before the people. He said that his party believes in action rather than words and the amount of development undertaken during these years has been unparalleled.
On the occasion Ravi Singh Panch, a staunch Congress worker of Nagrota joined National Conference along with supporters.
Also, BJP workers including Ashok Kumar Sharma, Joginder Singh, Jagdish Raj , Devi Dass, Dhani Ram, Baldev Singh, Raj Kumar, Narinder Sharma, Sudesh kumar, Sham Lal, Sunil Singh, Vishal Kumar and others joined the National Conference.
