Naeem visits Narwal, Bishnah; lays stress on speedy completion of road projects

JAMMU, Sept 8: Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar today exhorted upon the executing agencies to strictly adhere to the quality parameters in the execution of development works.
He also stressed on Government functionaries to maintain added transparency and accountability in utilization of resources including public money.
The Minister was interacting with Public Works Department functionaries during his visit to Narwal area to inspect progress of ongoing construction work of rigid pavement road from Railway crossing to FCI Godown Narwal.
He was accompanied by Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Sudheer Shah besides senior engineers of concerned departments.
The Minister was informed that 1565 mtr Railway crossing to FCI Godown Narwal road would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.53 crore by M/s TRB Infratech Pvt. Ltd .
Naeem Akhtar said the Government has taken a decision to construct more roads in the State with cement concrete which would last up to 40 years. He reiterated the resolve of the Government to improve living condition of the people of the State by providing all basic amenities at their doorstep and fast track development of each and every area of the state.
The Minister said that the completion of Railway crossing to FCI Godown Narwal road would facilitate the tankers and other heavy vehicles which plying on this road every day.
He also emphasized upon the engineers to make optimum use of funds and ensure transparency.
Earlier, Minister conducted an extensive tour of Bishnah constituency and took stock of ongoing development works taken up by PWD in the area.
During the tour, the Minister inspected the upgrading of Ratnal to Hasla Chak Road, Shibu Chak to Karyal Road & Deoli to Hasla Chak road in Bishnah and Salehar to Rathana Road in R.S Pura constituency being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.71 crore, Rs 2.24 crore, Rs 1.69 crore and Rs 2.22 crore respectively.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Bishnah Dr Kamal Arora, MLA R.S Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Sudheer Shah, and Chief Engineer PMGSY S.P Manhas, besides senior functionaries of concerned departments.
The Minister also took stock of  the progress of ongoing work of 40 mtrs span bridge over Tamallah Nallah on Arnia Road & Hasla Chak to Shibu Chak Road  being constructed under NABARD funding  at an estimated cost of Rs 3.68 crore & Rs 2.50 crore respectively.
He was informed that 23.36 Km road has been macadamized so far in Bishnah constituency against the target of 35.96 Km. He was further informed that the targeted macadamization  work has been estimated to cost of Rs 10.55 crore.
The Minister asked the concerned officials to adopt a proactive approach for the speedy completion of ongoing works. He said upgrading and expansion of road connectivity has been flagged as top priority by the state government. He directed the concerned agencies to work in synergy for better results.
The Minister also interacted with the local people during his tour and listened to their demands. He assured them that all their genuine demands will be attended to in a time bound manner.
The Minister said that Government is making concentrated efforts to provide better road connectivity especially in rural and border areas.
He informed that Rs 61 lakh road project has been approved for border areas of Bishnah constituency under Border Area Development Programme (BADP)
