Nadda discusses J&K BJP affairs, other issues with top level local leaders

JAMMU, June 15: Amidst speculations of major political developments in Jammu and Kashmir, a high level meeting was convened by the BJP national president J P Nadda with top party leaders from J&K, at New Delhi this evening.
Besides Nadda, sources said that the meeting was attended by BJP national general secretary and Incharge of J&K, Tarun Chug, J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina, general secretary (Organization), Ashok Koul and former Minister Sunil Sharma, who is J&K BJP general secretary and Incharge Kashmir unit.
During this two-hour long meeting at the official residence of J P Nadda, the party leaders discussed organizational matters pertaining to J&K BJP, administrative issues, security situation in Jammu Kashmir and others issues, sources told the Excelsior.
J P Nadda is learnt to have told the party leaders from Jammu Kashmir to further strengthen the organizational structure and broaden the party base in the Union Territory, particularly in Kashmir valley. He stressed for strengthening the party at grass root level through mass contact programmes and taking forward the welfare initiatives of Modi Government for ensuring grand victory of the BJP in next Assembly elections, sources said.
Sources further said that Ashok Koul apprised J P Nadda about the organizational affairs in Jammu Kashmir and drew attention towards series of measures initiated for highlighting the pro-people and nationalist agenda of the party.
The meet also discussed in detail the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the wake of recent killing of BJP leader and Tral Municipal Committee President Rakesh Pandita. The party leaders expressed serious concern over the terrorist activities and stressed for dealing the Pakistan sponsored terrorism with an iron hand, sources said.
Sources further said that the issue of delimitation of Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory also came up for discussion in the meeting of BJP leaders.
When contacted, J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina confirmed that the meeting was held for discussing organizational matters, security situation in Jammu Kashmir, border issues, situation arising out of Covid-19 pandemic, illegal mining in the Union Territory, etc.
“We were in Delhi to discuss the security related issues, threat to BJP workers in Kashmir and apprised the National President and General Secretary Incharge about the situation in Jammu Kashmir,” he said, adding that the upcoming Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Balidaan Diwas on June 23 and inauguration of Qazigund-Banihal tunnel also came up for discussion.
