UDHAMPUR, Mar 29: National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer Team from Bangalore visited Government College for Women, Udhampur, for first cycle Assessment of the college, which was established in 1986.
The Peer team was comprised of Prof D K Maheshwari (Vice-Chanceller, Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidhyalaya, Haridwar) as Chairperson, Prof Anita Tamuli (Professor of English Language Teaching, Gauhati University) as Member Coordinator and Prof Jayappa M, (Principal RBANMS College, Bangaluru) as Member.
In their two-day schedule, the Peer team interacted with various stakeholders of the College viz. Students, Parents, Teachers, Non-teaching staff and Alumni to validate the claims made by IQAC of the College in its self study report submitted to the NAAC in Dec 2018. The members of Peer team also had an interaction with Dr Zeba Suleman, Under Secretary to Govt Higher Education Department.
Earlier, the team was welcomed by the Principal of the college, Prof Subhash Chander while a detailed presentation about various processes and mechanisms leading to quality culture in the college was made by Prof Sudhir Singh (HoD English). It was followed by detailed interactions with various departments, conveners of various committees, NSS, NCC, Dean Students Welfare and non-teaching staff members.
They also inspected the College library, Sports Department, College Canteen, Health Room, Girls Common Room, Language Laboratory, Science Laboratories, EDUSAT and ICT Facilities.
The team also had an interactive session with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College. A scintillating cultural show was also presented by the cultural wing of the college.
The two-day schedule concluded with an Exit meet on the second day of the visit in which the team appreciated the endeavor of the college for accreditation with a vision of qualitative improvement of the institution. The Chairperson of the team handed over the Peer Team Report to the Principal of the college. In his address, the Chairperson suggested for complete digitization of all processes of the college and infrastructure enhancement proportionate to the academic expansion and increasing strength.
At the end, IQAC Coordinator Prof Brinder Kumar presented the formal vote of thanks.
