JAMMU, Dec 28: N S Jamwal, Inspector General today took over the Command of BSF Frontier Jammu.
He has succeeded Ram Awtar, IG who has been posted to BSF Academy Tekanpur. Prior to this appointment, Jamwal had commanded for 2 years most versatile Mizoram and Cachar Frontier of BSF in the North-East region of India where he coordinated the operational and logistic support to BSF troops deployed in one of the most difficult terrain in the country.
Jamwal, a 1984 batch Direct Entry BSF cadre officer belong to J&K State. He earlier also served as instructor at prestigious Commando Training Centre of BSF in Takenpur, which trains Commandos for various CAPFs and State Police organisations.
He has also served as Chief Nodal Officer (Intelligence) and Staff Officer to DG BSF for 4 years. Officer also served as member of International Task Force dealing with bilateral issues pertaining to human trafficking, Drugs and Narcotics, Border management and security.
Due to his knowledge prowess and effective utilisation in national security he has been detailed for training programmes at USA and United Kingdom. Officer is a recipient of President Police Medal for Meritorious Service and President Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Besides this, on numerous occasions the officer has been awarded by Commendation Rolls of Director General BSF. In the course of his 34 years of distinguished career, the officer has held numerous important Command as well as Staff appointments.
He also had a successful stint with National Security Guard (NSG) where was appointed as Dy GP Commander. The new IG while taking over the command said that he would take forward the BSF’s commitment to maintain sanctity of the borders and will not leave any stone unturned towards maintaining a secure environment to ensure safety and security of border population.
