Myanmar holds film academy awards ceremony

Yangon, May 7 :  Myanmar held a motion picture academy awards presentation ceremony in its capital Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday evening, the state media reported.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Myanmar’s State Administration Council Vice Senior General Soe Win said that it is the 64th Myanmar Motion Picture Awards Presentation Ceremony, which will present the awards for the years of 2019, 2020, and 2022.
He said that Myanmar’s film industry has contributed to the country’s social life and other sectors, creating and presenting artworks that reflected the country’s real situations.
A total of 22 academy awards including special awards for the years of 2019, 2020, and 2022 were presented to the country’s artists during the ceremony.
Aiming at encouraging domestic film production, the film academy award presentations have been held since 1952. Myanmar has produced more than 4,000 films since the start of the film industry.
The last film academy award presentation for 2018 was held in Yangon in March 2019, in which 12 awards were presented.
