‘Kashmir problem will be solved through Vajpayee formula’

JAMMU, Apr 26: Maintaining that Vajpayee doctrine was relevant and most viable for evolving permanent solution of Kashmir imbroglio, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that priority of his Government was to expose duplicity of those handful of families, who have been blackmailing the country by speaking one language in Valley and another in New Delhi.
“Kashmir problem will be solved only through Atal Ji’s formula of `Insaniyat’ (humanity), ‘Jamhuriyat’ (democracy) and ‘Kashmiriyat’ but firstly duplicity of a handful of families who speak one language in Valley and another in Delhi must be exposed to begin with and this is what I am doing at present,” he said in an interview with a news channel.
The statement on relevance of Vajpayee doctrine assumes significance in view of the fact that all the Valley based mainstream parties and even some moderate separatists have been vouching for solution of vexed Kashmir problem through the formula coined by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee whereas the present NDA Government, led by PM Narendra Modi is believed to be adopting a policy of hot pursuit to deal with the trouble makers in J&K, particularly separatists.
Without naming National Conference of Abdullahs or anyone else, the Prime Minister said that he was already well aware of the blackmailing tactics of these handful of families through their double speak since he had worked in the State and visited every district of J&K while performing organizational duties earlier .
The PM was responding to the query that whether his Government had come to know about right approach on Kashmir after a number of experiments , including coalition with PDP in the State. “Since Mufti Sayeed was alive, we were hopeful of coming out of this game of blackmailing and evolve a solution but it didn’t work since that was our `Mahamilawat’ (adulteration) of two opposite poles,” he said while terming BJP- PDP coalition as a mix of oil and water.
However, Modi hastened to add that both the parties had no option other than to join hands in view of the hung verdict in 2014 Assembly polls and the same was done. “We worked together for some time and again to respect the sentiments of democracy, we left the coalition but conducted Panchayat polls to empower people at the grass root level,” he added.
Justifying his Government’s present policy on Kashmir and describing the same as best approach, the Prime Minister reiterated that exposing duplicity of those blackmailing through their double speak was his priority. “You must have the courage to speak same language in Kashmir what you speak in Delhi and vice versa,” he added in an apparent reference to contradictory statements of NC and PDP leaders.
