REASI, July 3: Continuing the crackdown against traffic violators in the District , Motor Vehicle Department Reasi today conducted a massive checking of passenger vehicles during a Naka in Katra town.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer Reasi Rajesh Gupta recovered Rs.180500 fine from various traffic violators during a day long Naka here in Katra town.
A total of 192 vehicles were challaned/compounded, 11vehicles were seized without HSRP and recovered Rs.180500 from the violators on the spot by the team led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer(ARTO).
The Naka was laid to tighten the noose around the violators flouting the traffic rules and indulging in rash driving, driving without documents,overloading and over charging etc.
As per the ARTO, frequent complaints were received regarding the overcharging of fare, HSPR ,skipping prepaid counters and operating without proper documents by the commercial as well as private vehicles.
The ARTO informed that the team laid down the naka and booked scores of violators.The ARTO Reasi also cautioned the 3 wheelers not to overcharge from pilgrims. He issued a fare list to them to display so that the pilgrims may not face any problem during his visit.
Meanwhile, ARTO emphasized that it was the prime duty of the commuters to raise their voice against overloading and use of mobile phones by the drivers at the time of driving.
