Muzaffarabad road closed as 40 feet road stretch sinks in Baramulla

SRINAGAR: Baramulla-Uri-Muzzafarabad road was closed due to sinking of 40 feet road at Khanpora, official sources said here today.    A driver along with his vehicle is trapped inside more than 30 feet deep carter, they said.
Sources said a huge portion of the road sunk at Khanpora in Baramulla district late last night.
The incident occurred when a vehicle passing through the area fell into more than 30 feet deep carter, they said, adding that the driver is alive and efforts are being made to rescue him.
The road has been closed from both sides with tin sheets and the area has been sealed, they said.    CRPF personnel, guarding a temple in the area were shifted to Sheeri, they said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the road to sink, they said, adding that there were strong winds last night.    Senior civil and police officials have rushed to the area, they said.
