Muted demand drags chana futures down over 2%

NEW DELHI, July 27:  Chana prices dropped by 2.06 per cent to Rs 4,754 per quintal in futures trade today due to speculative selling triggered by weak demand in spot markets.
The far-month October contract of chana dropped Rs 100, or 2.06 per cent to Rs 4,754 per quintal with an open interest of 9,810 lots at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange.
The September contract of the commodity traded lower by Rs 50, or 1.02 per cent, to Rs 4,863 per quintal in 16,370 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in chana futures to offloading of positions by traders, taking negative leads from physical markets due to tepid demand. (PTI)
