Srinagar, Dec 17 : The National Conference today reiterated the demand to repeal the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) since there has been a considerable improvement in the situation.
The Additional General Secretary of the party Dr. Mustafa Kamaal, today while addressing Panchs and Sarpanchs at Sumbal Sonawari asked the centre to repeal AFSPA.
“More than a million odd tourists from across the country and world visited the State this year, lakhs performed Amarnath Yatra and a crore visited Mata Vaishno Devi, if this is not peace then what is?”, asked Dr.Kamaal.
The Additional Secretary said, that time is ripe to revoke the controversial AFSPA from the State. “AFSPA is the biggest hurdle in establishing peace and is cause of various troubles to the common people. Time is ripe to draw it out from the State”, said Kamaal.
Addressing the Panchs he said, “It was Sher-e-Kashmir’s dream to ensure governance at the grass root level, Omar Sahib ensured to carry forward that dream and made sure you become powerful and strong, and the party stands committed to ensure your success” said Kamaal.
In his address Senior Leader of the party and Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly Muhammad Akbar Lone said that the decisions of Omar Abdullah are showing positive results and people are appreciating the decisions of Omar Abdullah Government.
Omar Abdullah led Coalition Government has taken certain revolutionary decisions to ensure corruption free and accountable administration to the people. “RTI and Public Services Guarantee Acts, giving powers to Accountability Commission was aimed to empower the people and provide them an opportunity to what has their problems redressed in a time bound manner.
Ali Mohd Dar, MLC and Provincial President of the party also addressed the Panchayat members and promised them that he will work and highlight the issues faced by the Panchayats and ensure its redressal.
