Srinagar, Mar 21: The Muslim community in Wussan area of Ganderbal district today performed the last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit who died here after a prolonged illness.
Radha Krishan Raina, 85, was living in Wussan since 1984 and preferred to stay back when the majority of the Kashmiri Pandits were migrating from Kashmir.
The locals of the area said that it just like they have lost someone of their own as they rushed to the house of Raina as the news of his demise spread around.
They said that they are sad to have lost an elderly person who has living in the area for a long time now. “We are here to help in performing his last rites which, as a neighbour, is our duty,” locals said.
The locals said that they do not differentiate between Pandits and Muslims as everybody has been living in the area peacefully. “We are humans first and that’s what should be the criteria, nothing else,” they said.
