Muslim Federation pins hopes on DyCM for communal harmony in Jammu

JAMMU, May 5: Muslim Federation Jammu today pinned hopes on newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta for initiatives to improve the  atmosphere of social and communal harmony in Jammu besides instilling a sense of confidence among the Jammu Muslims.
In his response, Kavinder Gupta while addressing in a function by Muslim Federation Jammu at Bathindi, here today,  maintained that he stands for communal harmony and brotherhood and the same should be strengthened by organizing more interactions between Hindus and Muslims.
“Whenever there is a gap on account of lack of understanding,  it is bound to create many problems. I stand for closer ties among all the communities and regions of  the State,” he said and added that there was a great need to address the sense of  alienation from the minds of our youth so that their energies are utilized in a positive manner.
The Deputy CM further maintained that none can doubt sense of patriotism and   nationalism among Gujjars and Bakerwals of the State who have equal rights to grow and prosper in the State.
Earlier  in his welcome address, Abdul Majid,  president of  the Muslim Federation Jammu, said that people of the State have  high hopes from Kavinder Gupta. Expressing serious concern over deteriorating   atmosphere of social and communal harmony in Jammu, he appealed everybody to strengthen the bonds of   brotherhood in Jammu so that the society can be saved and it can march  towards success with a positive note.
The Muslim leader said that certain voices are raised regarding demographic change in Jammu, settlement of Rohingyas  and other baseless issues intentionally to create wedge between the communities and unwarranted distance is thus created by such voices between different groups in Jammu for personal and political interests.
He stressed that there was  a need to sit together and remove all these  misunderstandings by an open dialogue between responsible  Jammu Muslims and other prominent citizens of Jammu from different communities and shade of ideologies.
