UDHAMPUR, Mar 25: Udhampur Police has worked out murder case of a middle aged man, namely Captain Singh of village Salmeri in Rehambal, who was killed by his wife and her paramour on March 18.
In this connection, Police has arrested the accused, namely Reeta Devi, wife of deceased Captain Singh, her paramour Darshan Kumar, son of Nanak Chand Bhagat of Magiote Udhampur and two others.
The matter came into light on March 22, three days after the murder when one Kewal Kumar son of Poola Ram of village Sarsoo Udhampur, lodged a written report in Police Station Rehmbal stating therein that his aunty (Bua) Reeta Devi had killed her husband Captain Singh and buried the dead body in jungle.
Based on the complaint, a case FIR No. 38/2018 U/S 302/RPC was registered in Police Station Rehmbal Udhampur and a Police team was constituted by SSP Udhampur Rayees Mohammad Bhatt, to professionally investigate the said case for its logical conclusion. Accordingly, the team so constituted, led by Kameshwar Puri, Dy. SP Hqrs. Udhampur and assisted by Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO PS Rehmbal and Incharge PP Tiki, SI Sanjeet Sharma, swung into action and zeroed in some suspects, including Reeta Devi, wife of the deceased.
During the interrogation, Reeta Devi confessed about her relations with Darshan Kumar and disclosed that main cause behind the murder was that her husband had come to know about this illicit relationship.
Reeta Devi hatched a conspiracy in connivance with her paramour Darshan Kumar and killed her husband Captain Singh at his residence on March 18 night by repeatedly hitting him on the head with a lathi and hid the dead body inside bathroom for two days.
On March 20, Darshan Kumar and one Layaqat Ali, son of Sardar Ali Bakarwal of Kotli Pain Udhampur, dug a pit near nallah and buried dead body of Captain Singh there in presence of Reeta Devi, her nephew Ganesh Chand son of Pritam Chand Bhagat of Korga Dansal.
Subsequently, Police team arrested all the accused persons and on their disclosure, exhumed the dead body from the Nallah. Further investigation of the case is going on.
