Munificent Health Ministry

Munificent Union Health Ministry headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad has doubled grants for State Medical Services for this year. Now we will be getting Rs.424 crore instead of its half we got during 2011 – 12 financial year. This should prove a big boost to the healthcare services in the State.  But the Ministry has taken care that medical services are justly extended to far off and remote places in the State and not limited to the two cities or some specific towns only. Enhanced grants also cater to the need for incentives to doctors and medical staff posted in far off and remote places in the State.
The scheme also envisages establishment of 7 new ANM, 5 GNM schools to be opened in different district towns. Financial support to health centres in remote villages will be regulated by a formula that takes into consideration the distance of the targeted village/town from the district headquarter. We should also be thankful to the Union Minister for Health and Family Planning who has been very frugal in sanctioning grants for improving our health services and also in mounting special attention towards the State particularly its backward and hilly areas so that the deprived sections of people are not left uncared for.
