JAMMU, Dec 9: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association (MULBPA) Jammu and Kashmir held a meeting here today, under the chairmanship of its President B S Jamwal (Advocate) to discuss a number of demands and urgent nature issues.
The issues like extra expenditure on salaries and pensions from own resources of Civic Bodies as per the recommendations of 7th Pay Finance Commission as well as sanitary problems in two Capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar and others towns of J&K were discussed in detail during the meeting.
The Pensioners condemned the attitude of J&K Govt, which has not yet implemented Ayushman Bharat Free Medical Treatment Scheme to those poor class pensioners whose annual pension is less than Rs 8 lakhs or free insurance to get then treated in specialized hospitals within or outside J&K.
The meet reiterated the demand for enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs 300/-per month to Rs 1000/- per month at par with Central Govt employees and pensioners keeping in view the high price of medicines, consultation fee and clinical tests.
Stressing that funds be generated by the Civic bodies by charging commercial taxes from the business units as per standing orders of the standing committee to meet the expenditures on pensions and salaries of employees of these institutions. “It is a serious nature issue and needs to be discussed thoroughly as J&K State has now become Union Territory and Central laws are being implemented in J&K,” the Association said and appealed Lt Governor G C Murmu to look into the matter personally.
The Association also expressed concern over unauthorized Residential/commercial construction, deteriorating sanitary problems in capital cities Jammu, Srinagar and other towns.
