LEH, Mar 18: The Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, LAHDC, Leh, Mumtaz Hussain called on Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abass Naqvi at New Delhi and raised serious concern over the situation of pilgrims of UT Ladakh stranded in Iran as they are facing immense difficulties due to not having quarantine facilities for COVID-19 positive cases and urged the Minister to intervene in the matter.
The Union Minister assured EC Mumtaz that his Ministry will take appropriate action on priority.
Later, EC also met with MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and appreciated for raising the issue in the Parliament and also lauded his efforts in convincing the Central Government to take immediate action for evacuation of pilgrims of UT Ladakh stranded in Iran.
Thereafter, EC also called on the Iranian Ambassador to India Gholam Reza Ansari and urged for giving quarantine and other medical facilities to the stranded pilgrims in Iran. The Iranian Ambassador also assured to take up the matter immediately with the Iranian Government.
