POONCH, May 4: Historical Mughal road has been reopened after snow clearance work was completed today by the concerned department from Poonch side upto Pi- ki- Gali.
Official sources said that Mughal road was closed on April 27, after fresh snowfall on the upper reaches. Later, its clearance work was taken up by the R&B Department on April 29 but amid that work, snow and avalanches hit the road and it was not possible for the department to clear it upto Pir- ki- Gali, but today the road was cleared and traffic movement is expected to be allowed from tomorrow.
Tahir Abdullah, an engineerconnected with the work said that the avalanche hit Mansar Morh area which blocked the road at three places, clearance work was going on with pace to open the road and today we have touched the Pir ki Gali, while road from Shopian side was already cleared by the Deptt.
DySP Traffic Rajouri-Poonch, Nawaz Ahmed when contacted said that traffic movement shall be allowed after inspection in the morning.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Yasin Mohd Choudhary informed that Mughal road has been reopened following snow clearance work.
