POONCH, Nov 5: Mughal Road, connecting Rajouri-Poonch with Kashmir valley was today closed after heavy snowfall in Pir Ki Gali area.
Official sources said that rain and fresh snowfall took place in the higher reaches of Poonch and Rajouri this afternoon. Due to fresh snowfall the authorities closed the road from Bafliaz side in Poonch and Shopian in Valley. Some vehicles were reportedly trapped in the snow fall but were later cleared for their respective destinations by the authorities. About one to one and half feet snowfall was reported in Pir Ki Gali area this evening, the sources said.
A senior Traffic police official said that the weather was still inclement in the area and if it improves tomorrow, the road clearance operation will be launched. The road will also be cleared by tomorrow or maximum by the day after, he added.
