KISHTWAR, Mar 24: BJP national general secretary and in charge J&K and Ladakh UTs, Tarun Chugh, held the then Government and ruling party leaders of J&K responsible for the mass exodus of Pandits in Valley during 1989-90.
Addressing a mammoth public rally here, today Chugh alleged instead of taking action against the terrorists and separatists responsible for mass killings of the minority Pandits in the Valley the rulers at that time gave protection to them. The leaders who were entrusted with the responsibility of protecting its subjects surrendered before terrorists, he added.
Chugh said Nagsaini in Kishtwar is such a place where number of massacres on Hindus were committed and from a child to old people were not spared. In another heart rendering attack by terrorists an entire marriage party was eliminated, he added.
The BJP national general secretary said that a section of people in the country tried to protect these terrorists and project them innocent freedom fighters. These terrorists were given red carpet and VVIP treatment by them. Besides, they were being projected as heroes. Even in some educational institutions this practice is still continuing at present, he added.
Lambasting Mufti and Abdullah families Chugh said they misled Kashmiris by terming terrorists as martyrs or on the name of autonomy and restoration of 1952 position. The leaders of these parties are still repeating the same language but the BJP Government led by Narendra Modi will not let them succeed in their vicious designs, he added.
Chugh said that J&K needed a double-engine Government so that the development policies of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi could deliver results at the grassroots level.
Addressing a press conference in Kishtwar earlier Chugh said the people of J&K had been cheated for decades by Abdullahs and Muftis who never allowed development funds to benefit the people.
J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina, party general secretary Sunil Sharma, senior leader Devender Rana and other senior leaders also accompanied Tarun Chugh in the press conference.
“They made their own ivory towers but did not do anything for the people’s welfare. The two families have only taken care of their vested interests by following the people”, he said.
Instead of tourism, they promoted terrorism in the State. Instead of computers and books for children, they gave guns and stones in their hands and never allowed them to prosper.
Chugh said ever since J&K was declared a Union Territory a large number of administrative reforms have been brought about.
“More than 200 laws which were just in files and had no use for the people have been done away with. Many welfare schemes initiated by the Prime Minister have been implemented and that has brought a new smile on the face of people”, Chugh said.
He clarified that soon the Vidhan Sabha elections would be held and it is time that people voted for the BJP so that a double-engine Government could bring in a new era of development in the UT.
