KATHUA, Dec 6: Two members of a marriage party were killed while 14 others were injured after a fast driven matador bearing number JK08 B-5496 in which they were traveling turned turtle in village Ban near Raj Bagh in Kathua district late last night.
The dead have been identified as Kailasho Devi, wife of Tilak Raj and her daughter Priti Devi D/o Tilak Raj, both residents of village Ban.
The Raj Bagh Police has registered a case. The dead bodies were shifted to Hiranagar Hospital where from after postmortem they were handed over to their family members this afternoon for last rites. The Raj Bagh Police has registered a case and started manhunt for matador driver who fled after the accident.
Police said all the 14 injured passengers after giving first aid at SDH Hiranagar and district Hospital Kathua were discharged later.
The baratis were on way from village Ban to village Arnava after participating in the marriage ceremony. However, as the matador was in fast speed the driver lost the control over steering and the vehicle rolled down and turned turtle resulting into the death of mother-daughter duo.
