Most parts of Samba witness power cut

SAMBA, May 11: Power cut remained throughout the day in Samba city today pushing the locals to troubles. Samba city, Arazi Samba, Mandi Dansala, Mandi Thaloura, Mandi Garh, Mandi Pachwalian, Mandi Sangwali, Link Bazaar, Bus Stand, Mohalla Tehsil, Triloki Ki Chhapri, Mandi Lama, Chauhatta along with most of the Wards of the city were worst affected as power inverters in most of the houses, shops and other business establishments too had exhausted.
Works based on power like welding works, repair of electrical equipment along with ice cream vends were badly hit by the prolonged power cut and there was a lot of resentment among the locals for the power disruption.
Locals informed that the power supply was off at 10 am and was restored after around 9 pm and the concerned PDD gave no prior information for the shutdown.
Vinod Singh, who runs shop for repairing electrical equipments, said that he had to spend the entire day sitting idle as he was unable to work without electricity. Raman Kumar-a welder too had similar complaint as his work was not possible without electricity.
“We earn our livelihood by doing power based work and if situation continues like this, then how will we survive,” he said.
When contacted Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Samba, A.K Manhas said due to repair work on electricity lines in Arazi Samba power supply was snapped and they had informed their superiors about it.
