Most of PHE schemes functional in Shopian constituency: Sham Choudhary

JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today informed the Legislative Assembly that most of the Water Supply Scheme are functional in Shopian constituency.

There are 46 sanctioned PHE schemes in Shopian constituency, majority of which are functional on ground and some are under execution and at different stages of completion, the Minister said in reply to a question by Advocate Yousuf Bhat.

The Minister also said that there are 19 filtration plants in the area and majority of these are functional. “Ten plants developed some faults and remained non-functional for some time. Eight of them have been made fully functional and remaining two will be restored soon “, said the Minister.

Giving details of areas which have not been covered under PHE schemes and are facing shortage of drinking water in the area, the Minister informed that Mirzapora Sedow, Gatipora and Krechipathri villages are facing shortage of drinking water. The efforts are being made to cover Mirzapora Sedow under the scope of Water Supply Scheme Tulihallan and Gattipora under WSS Mujpathri, besides the Krechipathri area will be extended to distribution system during the current financial year, said the Minister.
