JAMMU, Oct 5: Minister of State for Defence Dr Subhash Bhamre today reviewed defence preparedness and efforts being made by the troops to thwart any misadventure by Pakistan and its sponsored militants and stressed for maintaining high degree of vigil and alert on Line of Control (LoC).
On second-day of his visit to border areas of Jammu region, Dr Bhamre toured areas falling along the LoC in Poonch, Pir Bhadreshwar and Buchhamandi, where he inter-acted with the Field Commanders and Army personnel for on spot assessment of the situation along frontiers with Pakistan, especially in the areas, which were being frequently shelled by the Pakistani troops.
After assessing situation in his meetings with the Army Commanders and visiting LoC, Dr Bhamre returned to New Delhi this evening.
Sources said the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Crossed Swords Division and local Army Commanders briefed the MoS Defence about preparedness of the troops to meet with any eventuality along borders with Pakistan and hinterland. They also gave exhaustive briefing to the Defence Minister on people welfare initiatives being taken by the Army.
Dr Bhamre emphasized that that national leadership and the Government is fully sensitive to the problems faced by the Army soldiers while operating in difficult and arduous conditions. He assured that full support will be provided to ensure that the Army is operationally fully equipped to deal a telling blow to the adversary as and when required.
Dr Bhamre commended alertness of troops deployed along LoC and appreciated their efforts in foiling nefarious designs of inimical forces.
Yesterday, he had visited forward areas in Rajouri sector.
