More than 7100 yatris leave for Amarnath cave shrine from base camps

SRINAGAR :  A new batch of 7,100 yatris today left for Holy Amarnath Cave Shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps.
A sadhu from Uttar Pradesh was rushed to Srinagar after he complained urine problem at Pahalgam.
The yatra was going on smoothly from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes, a yatra official said today, adding more han 65,000 pilgrims have already had darshan of the self-made Ice-shivlingam in the cave shrine since the commencement of the 55-day-long pilgrimage from June 28.
He said 4322 yatris, including 1067 women and 35 sadhus today left Baltal base camp. They will reach the camp by this afternoon, he said.
Similarly 2,852 pilgrims left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp early this morning. They included 527 women and 36 sadhus, he said, adding the yatris will have a night halt at Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on 48-km-long track. However, some yatris continued their journey to have night halt at Pisso top after covering the three-km distance on foot from Chandanwari.
The yatris, who had night halt at other halting stations on the traditional route, also started their forward journey.
A sadhu, identified as Paly Ram Dass a resident of Dharampore in Uttar Pradesh was admitted to Pahalgam base hospital after doctors found RBC in his urine. However, he was referred to SMHS hospital here for specialised treatment. (agencies)
