More terror-friendly employees to lose Govt jobs soon

Process initiated against about two dozen

JAMMU, July 16: The Government has decided to go ahead with crackdown on employees involved in anti-national activities amidst reports that Intelligence agencies have zeroed-in on nearly two dozen more such officers/ officials and were pursuing their cases before showing them the door.
“Among two dozen officials whose record is being scrutinized by the CID (Counter Intelligence), 2-3 are in the rank of officers,” official sources told the Excelsior saying rank of the officers/officials doesn’t matter and the Government has conveyed it in categorical terms to the Intelligence agencies that all those involved in anti-national activities and linked to terror have to be weeded out.
As per the procedure adopted by the Government, the CID (Counter Intelligence) initiates the process for termination of services of officers/officials linked to terrorism, hawala funding and other activities which are against interests of the country after gathering sufficient evidence against them. The cases are then processed by a high-level Committee headed by the Chief Secretary and finally approved by the Lieutenant Governor.
So far, 18 such employees have been terminated from the services, the latest being 11 including two sons of Hizbul Mujahideen supremo Syed Salahuddin.
Asserting that the process to remove terror-linked employees from the Government will continue till all such officers/officials are removed from the administration, sources said there were now categorical directions from the Government that none should be spared.
“Cases of the employees who were on radar of the Intelligence agencies and against whom evidence has been gathered or is in the process of being procured from the Police Department and other reliable agencies will be initiated shortly by the CID for removal from the services,” sources disclosed.
They revealed that some Government officers/officials, whose activities were being monitored by the Intelligence agencies, have suddenly started distancing themselves from the Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of the militants.
“Some of them have even deleted their Social Media accounts,” they noted saying few of them tried to destroy the evidence. However, they asserted, they won’t succeed.
These employees, according to sources, changed their attitude especially after termination of two sons of Syed Salahuddin which has sent very strong message to all sympathizers of the militants that they are not going to be spared now and will lose the job if they don’t mend their ways.
Sources anticipated that involvement of the Government employees in militancy or their discreet support to subversion will automatically come down with the Government crackdown on those whose involvement has been established.
On processing of cases of officers also, sources said the Government won’t hesitate from terminating the officers from the services as well if enough evidence of their involvement in terror activities was gathered during investigations by the Intelligence agencies.
For future appointments, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has already made the rules stricter wherein before joining, the newcomers will be subjected to CID verification which will unravel whether the fresh recruits have links in anti-national and anti-social activities. This will make the Government task easier as “unwarranted stuff” will be out at the initial stage itself, sources said.
They, however, described the process for termination of Government employees from the services on the basis of their links with the militants as fool-proof and transparent saying there was no scope left for any wrong decision as the cases are scrutinized at various levels before the termination orders are issued.
It may be mentioned here that 11 Government employees were terminated from the services few days back while seven had been dismissed earlier, all for their links or involvement in the terror activities.
A day before, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had declared that all those employees who pose threat to unity and sovereignty of the country have no place in the Government indicating that the Government will go tough to weed out black sheep from the administration.
