JAMMU, Aug 16: To cleanse the administration of corrupt elements, the axe will fall on more tainted officers in the State. This was hinted at by Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh while addressing a party programme here today held in connection with Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Training Programme cum Workshop.
The Deputy Chief Minister, while highlighted the achievements of five and half month old PDP-BJP coalition Government in the State, said that the alliance of his Party and BJP is alliance of governance and not a political alliance so it has taken many steps for the welfare of the people.
Asserting that there will be no compromise on corruption, Dr Singh said the deadwood has been removed from the administration by showing door to 67 officers recently and more to face action in near future. “We are guarding at each and every fora and every wrong doing will be stopped’’, he added
Admitting that the State is facing acute power crisis, the Deputy Chief Minister said the Government is trying its best to improve the system and overcome the power theft which is 61 percent. “In this regard a mechanism is being created to monitor every thing and we are trying our best to improve the system to tide over the power crisis in near future’’, he added.
Dr Singh announced that by March next year RAPDRP system will be introduced to ensure 24X7 power supply in the State.
He also announced that 450 mw Baglihar IInd will be commissioned soon and its turbine is being tested. With the commissioning of this project, power crisis can be averted to some extent, he added.
Lambasting Pakistan for unprovoked heavy border firing, he said Pakistan is a failed State and to divert the attention from its internal crisis in Sindh, Baltistan and Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) it is resorting to border firing. “But our forces are also giving a befitting reply and they are retaliating with full might’’, he added.
He said Pakistan has established training camps of militants in its country and it was diverting attention from that by resorting to border shelling.
He said to prevent the loss of civilian lives due to unprovoked border shelling and firing by Pakistan, the pucca bunkers are being constructed both on IB and LoC soon.
He said every sort of help is being provided to the families who lost their dear ones in Pak shelling in Poonch and those who have been injured.
Ridiculing the statement of opposition leader in Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad that the Modi Government should show its 56 inch chest to counter Pakistan, Dr Singh asked what Congress has done since 1947 when it was in power. “They (Cong) are responsible for annexation of a portion of J&K by Pakistan in 1947 and later gifting Chamb to Pakistan in 1971, besides handing over 90,000 prisoners of war to that country during the Simla Agreement by surrendering the national interests, he added.
While referring to new public welfare schemes and projects being launched by the coalition, he said, Rs 650 crore have been earmarked for Deen Dayal Jyoti Yojna and Rs 200 crore multi tier parking project in Jammu is in offing. Besides, a circular road in Jammu has also been proposed, he added.
He said the work on much talked about Mubarak Mandi heritage Project has been intensified and Flood Control and Irrigation Department has given an assurance that the water in Tawi lake will be deposited by March next year.
Dr Singh, while asking his Partymen not be defensive over AIIMS issue, said the prestigious medical institute will be established in Jammu also and 200 acres of the land is being identified for that.
He said work will also be started at Pakal -Dul power project soon and work on Ratle Power Project will also be resumed soon.
Dr Singh said land has been identified for Rs 3000 crore IIT near Nagrota Jammu while eight national highways have been proposed for the State.
He also asked the Partymen to apprise the people of various public welfare schemes launched by Prime Minster Narendra Modi, like PM’s Jan Dhan Yojna, Atal Pension Yojna, Raksha Bandhan Yojna, Beti Bachao, Beti Padao Yojna, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan etc.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Minister of State for Education and Culture Priya Sethi, MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma, MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta, Chairman Kissan Development Board, Daljit Singh Chib, MLA Ch. Shyam and former MLA Ashwani Sharma.
