JAMMU, Nov 15: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today lauded the performance of cooperative sector in the State, adding that the institutions have achieved the benchmarks which were set for it with the hard work of employees.
During the past five years the management has taken several bold initiatives to rejuvenate the financial health of the cooperative institutions which has resulted into improving the performance, he said.
The Minister was speaking at a function organized by Cooperative School of Education and Research Institute Limited at Deeli in connection with the celebrations of 60th Cooperative Week-2013 today.
Minister of State for Cooperatives, Fisheries, Elections, Printing and Stationery, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma besides Registrar Cooperatives Sudershan Sharma, Principal of the School, Ch. Hussain Mohammad, other senior functionaries of Cooperative Department, prominent citizens, teaching and non-teaching staff members including parents and students in large numbers were present on the occasion.
Bhalla stressed the need for evolving professionalism in the functioning of the institution to provide quality education to the students as per the modern trends.
The Minister asked the teachers fraternity to give their best to shape the personality of students so that they become valuable assets for the society.
Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma in his address said that Cooperative School of Education and Research Institute Limited is a non-profit institute and is catering to the needs of the people, especially who are not able to send their children to bigger institutions. He said Cooperative Schools are providing quality education to the students with high academic standards, modern innovative practices and techniques.
He said Government is making all out efforts to further strengthen the cooperative sector in the State keeping in view the competitiveness and quality standards in private sector. He said the institution will try its best to come up to the expectations of parents and achieve the new standards.
Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma asked the students community to work for unity and integrity of the country and also appealed the parents to come forward and support their children in this mission so that India emerges as a strongest country.
He directed the management to provide special concession to the poor students so that they can also realize their dreams in education.
Earlier, the students presented colourful cultural programme which was highly applauded by the audience.
Later, the Ministers distributed mementos among the meritorious students who brought laurels for school during JKBOSE exams in 2012-13.
