More NC, Cong, NPP, other leaders oppose new Domicile Law, demand its revocation

JAMMU, Apr 3: More political leaders have opposed the new Domicile Law for J&K UT and demanded its immediate revocation and evolving a robust safeguarding mechanism.
Describing Jammu and Kashmir Domicile Law as unjust and betrayal with educated unemployed youth National Conference (NC) provincial president, Devender Singh Rana today said this should be withdrawn forthwith to pave the way for widespread consultations with all the stakeholders to evolve a robust safeguard mechanism in the larger interests of the bonafide locals.
“All political parties should rise above politics and commit themselves to the just cause of our youth and speak against the law in one voice”, Rana said in a statement here.
He said the law in its present form is disastrous for the youth of J&K in general and those in Jammu in particular, who may have to face the main brunt with jobs going to outsiders.
“Our youth are second to none and have proven their worth in various national level competitive exams but when it comes to jobs, it should be understood that those coming from far-off areas or belonging to weaker sections, Scheduled Castes and Tribes, the level play field is not the same as elsewhere in the country due to poor infrastructure and education system”, the provincial president of NC said, asking if a special provision could be envisaged in various states like Himachal Pradesh and North East with regard to exclusive rights of local youth over all category of jobs why the same is being denied to J&K youth. The avoidable deprivation could lead to alienation of youth, irrespective of region, religion or caste, he cautioned, saying the bonafide residents are feeling terribly let down and betrayed beyond imagination.
Reacting sharply to the Domicile Law, former Minister and senior NC leader Ajay Kumar Sadhotra expressed his serious concern over the way BJP Government is exploiting the situation for petty political gains when whole of the country is busy in fighting joint war against COVID -19, the Government is busy in exploiting situation to play its constituency in rest of the country which is very sad, unfortunate and against the ethics.
In a statement issued here, today he said the country is fighting health emergency at present only and only concentration should be to fight the war against Corona Virus. Terming Domicile Law as very regrettable, he said the youth of J&K is busy with the nation to combat COVID-19, BJP Government instead of appreciating the joint efforts of the people of J&K has send shocking waves by making Domicile Law.
Former Minister and general secretary JK PCC, Yogesh Sawhney has also opposed the Domicile Law and demanded this unjust and discriminatory law be revoked immediately.
In a statement issued here, today he said the new Domicile Law regarding to jobs in J&K is a cruel trick played with the rights of the youth of the region and it is total betrayal with them. Released, months after the special status of the J&K State was annulled in August last year, the law has met with stern resistance from all regional parties throughout the UT, he added.
Terming the new Domicile Law destructive for youth of J&K former Minister and JK NPP general secretary, Yash Paul Kundal criticized the Union Government for brining the new law which he alleged has damaged aspirations of educated unemployed youth of the J&K UT.
He said under the new law the J&K youth are eligible for Class Fourth posts only. After abrogation of article 370 J&K youth were expecting something good from Union Government but with the declaration of new Domicile Law has put a full stop on the future prosperity of the youth.
Senior Congress leader and member AICC, Mohinder Bhardwaj while commenting on new Domicile Law has said that the BJP and Government led by it has once again shown their true chameleon like qualities of making false promises and changing colours.
In a statement today he said that J&K be given new domicile on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh and North Eastern States. He accused BJP State and Central leaders for spreading falsehood ever since abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 last year.
Various Sikh organizations of J&K under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh chief organizer Bhai Kanaiya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and Ex Member DGPC Jammu, Darbinder Singh, president Shiromani Akali Dal J&K and Kulwant Singh Khajuria joint secretary SAD J&K have strongly condemned the new law on Domicile. They said the order does not disclose any relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly to tackle the issues of PoK refugees 1947 who are suffering since long.
Adil Manhas, State president, Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha India while condemning the new Domicile Law termed it as the injustice and betrayal with the youth of J&K. He asserted that J&K BJP leadership had assured the youth of the UT that their rights will be safeguarded but by introducing the said law at this juncture when the entire nation is passing through a critical time the party has betrayed the people in general and youth of J&K in particular.
Gurmeet Singh leader of Aam Aadmi Party J&K has termed the Centre’s Domicile Law as another betrayal with the youth and people of Jammu and Kashmir. He wanted to know what was the need of bringing the law at this juncture when country is fighting the deadly Corona virus?
BJP Kashmir Displaced District UT of J&K however welcomed the new Domicile Law saying it was a decision in right direction to correct the wrongs of last over 70 years which led to discrimination and deprivation of deserving people in Government jobs especially in the services of Civil Secretariat. In a statement issued by president of the Unit T N Bhat, its former president, Chand Ji Bhat, senior leaders Bharat Bushan Bhat Gosani, J L Pandita, Sweety Koul, Makhan Lal, Vinod Pandita Virender Sathoo, Vishal Jyotshi and others they said the new law will have for enormous employment generation avenues in the UT for the deserving and the educated youth and thus remove manipulation, malpractices and favoritism which has debarred thousands of talented and deserving educated youth from getting employment avenues earlier.
They alleged that the Kashmir based parties who exploited people of J&K for last 70 years and filled their coffers are now trying to mislead them again for their vested interests.
All India Backward Classes Federation (AIBCF) while appreciating he present approach of the Union Government to settle all the issues of J&K including Domicile issue however alleged that the OBC issue is being ignored. AIBCF State president F C Satia appealed the Government to address the OBC reservation issue at the earliest.
Duggar Pradesh Party has expressed its serious resentment on Domicile Law announced by BJP Government by reserving group 4 jobs to the residents of Jammu Kashmir and termed it as betrayal by the Central Government.
In a statement, Uday Chand- President DPP, described the reorganization of Jammu Kashmir State as faulty and incomplete as the Jammu region having its own vast territory of more than 28,000 sq kms with distinguished identities, culture. various languages understandable to each other fully qualify for Statehood. Jammu rejoin never supported terrorism and it was worst affected because of continuous turmoil in Kashmir in every sphere, he added.
Uday Chib, president Pradesh Youth Congress, J&K strongly criticized the Central Government for playing with sentiments of people and betraying the educated unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here today, Chib asserted that the newly introduced Domicile Law will give rise to unemployment and joblessness in J&K as due to prevailing conditions this law in not the interest of youth and people of J&K.
