Modified bikes seized in Samba

SAMBA, Feb 12: As part of a drive against the traffic violators, police in Samba district today seized several bikes, including those with modified silencers, for road safety violations.
A police official said that action against the two-wheelers fitted with modified silencers was taken on the complaints of several individuals about the nuisance they were creating in the area.
Unauthorised modification to the vehicle silencers is prohibited under the Motor Vehicles Act. Such alterations not only contribute to noise pollution but also reduce the efficiency of the bikes, thus posing safety risks.
Besides this, bikes were also seized by the police under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act for violating other traffic rules, said the police official.
Meanwhile, SSP Samba warned that strict action will be taken against those possessing bikes with modified silencers and asserted that such drives will continue in future as well.
