JAMMU, Feb 12: The J&K gymnasts have made a stellar mark at the 38th National Games, clinching four medals in various categories. The J&K team secured a silver medal in the team championship event, with the talented athletes Muskan Rana, Vaibhavi Sharma, Manya and Jagriti Thakur leading the charge. Muskan Rana was also crowned the all-round champion.
In the Ball event, Muskan Rana earned a silver medal, while her teammate Manya secured a bronze, showcasing their dominance in gymnastics. The gold medal in the Ball event was claimed by Kimaya from Maharashtra.
These achievements bring J&K’s medal tally to four, with gymnasts excelling in multiple disciplines. The performances have not only brought pride to J&K but also highlighted the region’s rising talent in the sport.
Kiran Wattal, president of the J&K Gymnastics Association honoured the medallists by presenting them with their prizes. In his address, Wattal expressed his gratitude towards Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for supporting sports initiatives in J&K. He also acknowledged the contributions of J&K Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul for her pivotal role in sports development across the UT.
