JAMMU, Dec 18: Former Deputy Chief Minister & senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta today visited Sainik Colony in Gandhi Nagar Assembly Segment and started the black topping works  worth Rs 87 lakh in Sector- C along with Councilors Narinder Singh and Gurmeet Randhawa.
He also took note of necessary action required to upgrade the basic infrastructure in the locality including constructions of lanes, drains, roads and supply of drinking water.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is working hard for the upliftment of poor, under privileged, farmers, youth and development of villages and cities and have launched many schemes for every section of society without any discrimination. He said workers should reach out to the public to aware them about the achievements of Modi Government.
He said Jammu and Kashmir is also witnessing the era of development and many mega projects have been launched in the State.  He informed the locals that in Gandhi Nagar Constituency very soon the work on the approved projects worth 12 crore will be started which include roads of Sainik Colony, construction of sports field at Sainik Colony, renovation & upgradation of existing transformer repair workshop at Nanak Nagar, upgradation of main Babliana road from Rajiv Gandhi Hospital to Peer Baba at Gangyal including Barsati Nallah, construction of road from Bathindi to Ratti Sarai via Bermini and development of playground at Panjpeer Bathindi.
Many works earlier brought to his notice have either been completed and for the remaining works codal formalities have been completed and soon the work shall start, he added. He said that a carefully calculated plan is being chalked out for phase by phase public infrastructure development of the area. The execution of these projects will be meticulously carried out in a phased and time-bound manner, he added.
Gupta said BJP believes in equitable development of all the areas. Kavinder Gupta appraised that,  200 bedded Maternity Hospital in Gandhi Nagar, 100 bedded Hospital in Gangyal, Nursing College at Gangyal, Degree College at Kunjwani,  more than 700 km road length has been upgraded; Construction of deep drain at Gangyal, undergoing work of deep drain at Sanjay Nagar, more than 385 transformers and installation of  14000 new electric poles besides many other works have either been completed or the work is in progress  in Gandhi Nagar Constituency in the past three years.
