Modi pays tributes to Mufti Sayeed at Palam Airport

NEW DELHI :   Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid final tributes to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who passed away this morning at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), at the Palam Airport.
The body of Mufti Sayeed is being taken to Srinagar where his last rites will be performed.
Various other political leaders, including Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad are currently on their way to Srinagar to attend the last rites of Sayeed.
J and K Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh also expressed shock over his untimely death and said ”it was a saddening situation for all of us”.
Sayeed, who took over as Chief Minister of J and K, heading the PDP-BJP coalition in March last year, was admitted to the hospital after he had complained of exhaustion due to fever and neck pain and during the course of his medical investigation, the AIIMS doctors diagnosed him with having ”decreased blood counts, pneumonia and sepsis”.
His condition worsened last night and he was put on  a ventilator. He breathed his last at 0715 hrs. (UNI)
