KISHTWAR/ BHADERWAH, Apr 15: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad today sought an apology from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for trying to mislead the nation about the Congress stand against terrorism and issues of national security by stating that Congress wants to withdraw the forces from Kashmir and compromised the national security, whereas, the Congress is committed to effectively deal with terrorism and plugging the infiltration from across the border.
Blaming the PM Modi for the blatant lie when he said on Sunday that Congress wants to withdraw forces from Kashmir and would compromise the national security Azad said, ” It is totally misleading the nation, as the Congress is committed for uncompromising approach to deal with terrorism and further strengthen the security along borders to plug the infiltration, whereas, the Modi Government failed to contain infiltration, cross border terrorism and control terrorism in Kashmir.”
Addressing election rallies in Kishtwar and Bhaderwah today, Azad said Modi Government has no right to talk about national security in view of the poor record of his Government on this front, as record number of major terrorist attacks over vital Army and security forces installations have taken place during his regime and terrorism and infiltration was at its peak during his tenure. He referred to the series of terrorist attacks on the forces in the State and elsewhere and the record number of infiltrations and martyrdom of our jawans during the Modi regime and said that it speaks of the failure of his Government on the issue of national security and its claims to the contrary are falsified.
Azad said that Modi Government utterly failed to plug infiltration and contain militancy in Kashmir which is evident from the prevailing security situation in the State and along the borders. The Congress would further strengthen the security along the borders and effectively contain militancy besides taking various peace initiatives to restore normalcy in the State, if voted to power.
AICC leader said that Modi Government and BJP has nothing to sell to the electorates about its past promises and on various problems confronting the nation, it is harping on the issue of national security by misleading the nation about the Congress stand and creating sense of insecurity and war hysteria.
He said that Modi Government made tall claims of ensuring the safety and security of the women in the country, bringing back black money and depositing Rs 15 lakh in the account of citizens, giving two crore jobs to the youth every year, checking price rise and promising good days to the countrymen.
On the contrary the crimes against women increased, the tax payers money from the banks were looted by few rich people close to power and taken abroad or waived off, whereas the poor farmers continued to suffer and commit suicides, the jobs opportunities were diminished by demonetization and wrong economic policies and the poor got over burden by unprecedented hike. On every front, Modi Government has proved to be total failure and it has only to rake up issues of national security, religious and regional matters for vote bank politics, Azad maintained.
He said that Prime Minister repeated the old commitments to various suffering sections in the State including return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants but questioned him about the delivery of his Government towards them as per past commitments. He said that it was UPA Government led by Dr Manmohan Singh which took several initiatives and executed relief and rehabilitation packages for the Kashmiri migrants which are visible, but the Modi Government failed to further carry forward those initiatives and measures.
Senior AICC leader accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of creating “war hysteria” and “fear psychosis” among the people for electoral gains in the Lok Sabha polls.
Azad lashed out at BJP for “creating an atmosphere of mistrust and hate” in the country. He alleged that Modi was playing politics on the issue of Kashmiri Pandits and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). Azad stated that Modi in his addresses does not mention anything about the promises made by him especially to our youth, farmers and the poor in the last election and instead he has created `war hysteria’ and `fear psychosis’ among the countrymen for votes.
While remembering Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Azad said that Atal was a man of principle and Modi should learn from his ideology. Modi know, he can not get a single vote on the name of development, that’s why he always play communal, religion and cast card to came into power.
He said, “Congress had played an important role in the freedom of our country, there was no BJP at that time in the country. Today they are asking us for nationalism.”
He said that PM Modi is lier, who befooled gullible people of whole country by his fake promises.
Azad alleged BJP and it’s leaders will be proved most corrupt, whenever an investigation will be initiated. “It’s very unfortunate that Modi is only PM, who never answer any questions in the Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha.”
AICC leader said that if Congress party came into power, people will get free education upto 12th, free medical care, one of the family member will get job and will reduce price of diesel and petrol. He said 25 crore poor families will get Rs 6000 per month and this amount will be credited to bank account of house-wives.
He appealed to the people to vote for Congress nominee, Vikramaditya Singh and ensure the victory of the Congress party for the larger interests of the nation.
