JAMMU,: Recounting achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre on completion of 100 days, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir is one of its greatest successes and will serve as a stepping stone to recover Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Government of India on August 5 abrogated Article 370, which provided special status in Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two Union Territories.
“Article 370 abrogation is the biggest and greatest achievement of Mr Modi’s.2.0 rule,” Dr Singh told reporters here as part of a nationwide campaign to highlight 100 days of bold initiatives and decisive actions by the National Democratic Alliance government.
“ I must say abrogation of Article 370 should be recorded as an achievement of 100 years,” he added and said that had Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee been alive, he would have declared, “go and tell the world that Mr Modi and Mr Amit Shah have abrogated Article 370.”
“The decision was taken for the betterment of life of the common people of Jammu and Kashmir,” said the Minister.
Dr Jitendra Singh added that next on the NDA agenda is to regain PoK. (agencies)
