JAMMU, Mar 8: Maintaining that BJP Government led by Narendra Modi changed both political and work culture in the country, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that this Government sanctioned those projects in the UT of J&K which were deliberately kept in limbo by previous Governments and were even forgotten by the people.
Talking to media after chairing a virtual meeting of Social Media Team of Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh said this Government took up such projects in hand in J&K which were kept in limbo by successive Governments and which even have got out of people’s mind. But neither caring for vote politics nor any other political consideration, the Modi Government took up such projects in hand for the welfare of the masses as its commitment is justice to all.
Dr Jitendra Singh in this regard gave example of Rs 160 crore Devika Rejuvenation Project in Udhampur which has been constructed on the pattern of Namami Ganga. He said there was no public demand for the same but he being an MP of the area thought this a moral obligation to get this project sanctioned to bring Udhampur on pilgrimage map of the country and restore the religious sanctity of the holy Devika which as per Hindu mythology is considered the elder sister of sacred Ganga.
Likewise, the people had forgotten the Shahpur Kandi Project which was deliberately ignored by previous J&K Governments as they had no interest in its construction, he said, adding even the people had lost hope of its construction as project was put in backburner for over 40 long years because it was a least priority for Congress and National Conference (NC) Governments.
“But being an elected representative of the area I took up the issue with Prime Minister who without losing any time initiated a dialogue process between Punjab and J&K Governments to settle the issue and work on the project has been started which will prove a game changer for twin districts especially Kandi belt of Samba and Kathua’’.
Likewise, Dr Jitendra Singh said Keriyan Gandyal bridge over river Ravi was no priority for previous Governments as they were not bothered for the small population living in this area which does not constitute a sizeable vote bank. But without consideration of vote bank, Modi Government sanctioned Over Rs 150 crore project and constructed a bridge connecting Keriyan Gandyal with rest of the Kathua district.
Dr Jitendra Singh said even Gandoh village of Doda district which is the residential area of former Union Minister had no post office or bank branch and it was the BJP Government and he as the MP of the constituency got the Post Office and bank branch established in this remote village.
The Union Minister said in the Mantalai which was also neglected by previous governments a State of Art Yoga Centre got sanctioned by Modi Government while six power projects have also been sanctioned for Kishtwar making it hub of power generation in Northern India. In addition to this National institute of High Altitude Medicines (NIHAM) was sanctioned in Bhaderwah of Doda district and all these projects were brought without political considerations. The only objective of sanctioning these projects was the public welfare and development of the UT of J&K so that it does not lag other states and UTs of the country.
He said the decision of setting up of these projects was taken on the basis of requirement of the area and not on political considerations.
While addressing the Social Media team virtually, Dr Jitendra Singh laid stress upon launching an extensive social media campaign for apprising the common people about the achievements of the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre.
In the meeting J&K BJP Social Media convenor, and co-convenors were present.
Dr Jitendra Singh said social media is a boon of modern times. It’s a major platform to get the party’s ideology across to the masses. The same social media has helped common people in having direct links with the BJP and this is why we have been able to emerge as the largest political party in the world. He said in today’s era, social media is the only weapon by which people with anti-national mentality can be defeated.
The Union Minister called upon party workers to use social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, etc. to make people aware about the achievements of Central Government. Besides, efforts should be made to form WhatsApp groups at every district, Mandal and booth level which would serve as a platform for exchanging information relating to the good work done by the Modi Government,” he said.
Dr Jitendra asked them to make every possible effort in publicizing the schemes of the Modi Government and bring awareness about the same amongst the eligible individuals through social media platforms. He asked J&K’s social media team mates to work towards strengthening the party’s work by promoting various aspects on social media.
Earlier convenor J&K BJP social media, Ankit Gupta, who organised the meeting briefed the Union Minister about various ongoing programmes of the party in J&K Union Territory. He informed that ‘Booth Sashaktikaran Abhiyan’, ‘meeting the beneficiaries of PM Schemes’, discussion on handling of various social tools like WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
The participants assured the Union Minister that they will do their best in promoting the policies, programmes and schemes of Central Government in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir through various social media platforms.
Among those who were present in the virtual meeting include Manjeet Jasrotia, Nitish Mahajan, Satish Jandyal, Bilal Parray (co-convenors) of the Department and other office bearers.
