JAMMU, Dec 27: Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that Pakistan is being given befitting reply on the borders in Jammu and Kashmir because today the country has Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister and not the ‘Mouni Baba’, a reference towards Congress leader Dr Manmohan Singh, who was the Prime Minister for 10 years from 2004-2014.
“Congress ki sarkar 10 saal chali, Sonia-Manmohan ji ki sarkar chali, Pakistan se har roz aalia-malia-jamalia ghus jate the, hamare jawanon ke sar kaat ke le jaate the, aur desh ke Pradhan Mantri ke munh se uff nahi nikalta tha (Congress ran the Government for 10 years, there was Sonia-Manmohan Government for 10 years, Every day `Aalia, Malia, Jamalia used to infiltrate, behead our soldiers and country’s Prime Minister never uttered a word),” Shah said addressing a function in Shimla marking two years of the BJP Gover-nment in Himachal Pradesh.
Shah’s statement comes at a time when the Indian Army has inflicted very heavy casualties and damages on Pakistani troops on the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). While four Pakistan army personnel were killed yesterday, another four perished today in retaliatory Indian action on the LoC. At various sectors on the LoC, Pakistan army was reported to have raised white flags and sought ceasefire.
“Ever since Modi Ji has become the Prime Minister, Pakistan is being given befitting reply (for ceasefire violations on the LoC). This is possible because today we have 56-inch chest Prime Minister and not the Mouni Baba,” the Home Minister said.
Shah said Pakistan attacked our jawans in Uri and Pulwama in the Kashmir valley but the Narendra Modi Government retaliated within 10 days with surgical and air strikes and eliminated the militants.
Referring to abrogation of special Constitutional provisions in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said when he was 13 years old he had been raising the slogan of ‘Ek Desh Ek Vidhaan’ (One Country One Constitution) but there was no progress to implement it till he turned 55.
“Narendra Modi abrogated Article 370,” he said.
“Earlier, it was a challenge to hoist the National Flag in Kashmir but now after the abrogation of Article 370, the fluttering of the Tricolor in the Valley is giving a message to the world,” he said.
He added that youth of Himachal Pradesh have sacrificed their lives for the country and they have bagged four `Paramvir Chakras’.
Shah hit out at the opposition Congress, accusing the party of misleading people over the amended Citizenship Act.
He also clarified that the legislation had no provision to take away citizenship.
“The Congress and company is spreading rumours that Muslims may lose their citizenship,” said Shah.
“I challenge Rahul Baba that let me know if there is even a single line in the Act regarding the withdrawal of anyone’s citizenship. Don’t misguide and divide people over the CAA,” he added.
He said he wanted to ask the minorities, especially Muslims, to look into the CAA, which was now available on the Government website.
“Go through the Act. No one will lose citizenship,” he added.
The Union Minister said the CAA would provide citizenship to the minorities who faced religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Pakistan failed to implement the Nehru-Liaquat pact to protect religious and other rights of the minorities, Shah said, adding that it prompted the Narendra Modi-led BJP government to table the bill in Parliament which has now become a law.
The Union Minister said the thinking of the world towards India had changed after the country carried out surgical strikes in Pakistan to end terrorism.
After the US and Israel, India had been added to the list of the countries that take action against infiltrators by entering the foreign soil, he added.
Claiming that the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre was working to end corruption, he said no opposition party could accuse the Union Government of corruption in its six-year tenure.
BJP’s national working president JP Nadda said the Modi Government at the Centre had taken historical decisions in the past four to five months.
