‘Modi Govt felt serious concern for Paharis’

JAMMU, Feb 11: Pahari Tribe ST Forum has said that Government of India has now fulfilled their long pending demand of Scheduled Tribe status.
In a press conference here today Forum leaders Vikrant Sharma and Sajjad Mirza said: “On Independence Day of 2019, PM Modi had announced from the ramparts of Red Fort that Paharis will be given ST status and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah during his visits at Jammu, Rajouri and Anantnag has also given similar assurances.”
Forum leaders claimed that downtrodden and marginalized people of Pahari community were exploited by false promises by the earlier regimes but now the government led by PM Modi has felt serious concern for the community.
They also remembered the veterans and foot soldiers of the community which contributed a lot in the movement for ST status during three decades wherein many sacrifices were also made.
Jenghir Alam, Muneer Mirza, Ahmed Khan, Bindu Choudhary and Ritesh Choudhary were also present in the press conference.
