NEW DELHI, June 27 : Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the Modi government has ensured equitable development of Hill States, including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir as well as the North Eastern States.
Addressing the BJP ‘Jan Samvad’ Virtual rally of Uttarakhand, Dr Jitendra Singh accused the Congress governments in the past of having denied Uttarakhand and other hilly regions of their due because of political considerations. He said, in the last six years, sincere attempts have been made to decide priorities depending upon requirement, and not based on vote bank.
Soon after Narendra Modi took over as Prime Minister in 2014, Dr Jitendra Singh recalled, he announced that the North East as well as the other peripheral States will be given priority, in order to bring them at par with the more developed States of the country. Modi had said that the holistic and harmonious development of Mother India was possible only when both of its arms, the left and the right, were enabled to grow and gain strength equally, he recalled.
Hailing the Trivendra Singh Government in Uttarakhand for its effective fight against Corona, Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated that in 14 District Hospitals in the State, 251 ICU beds and 113 ventilators had been designated for COVID patients as a preemptive step. At the same time, he said, the State government had ensured oxygen supply pipeline worth Rs. 6 crore.
Dr Jitendra Singh also lauded the implementation of various public welfare schemes in Uttarakhand. In this regard, he referred to ‘Antyodaya Anna Yojana’, which had benefited 13.49 lakh people and 1% relief in power tarrif for as many as 25 lakh consumers in view of the Corona pandemic.
Referring to Uttarakhand as a State known for its herbal drugs and Himalayan medicinal plants, Dr Jitendra Singh hailed the ‘e-Sanjeevani’ Telemedicine service launched by the Trivendra Singh Rawat Government.
While thanking Dr Jitendra Singh for addressing the Virtual Rally, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat referred to a number of successful programmes and schemes taken up by the State government. He said, under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, the State is constantly moving forward on the road of progress.
