SRINAGAR, Oct 29:
An earthquake of moderate intensity rocked Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, forcing people to rush out of their houses in panic despite chilly breeze last Saturday night.
A Met department spokesman said today that an earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude on the Richter Scale rocked the Valley at 2315 hrs last night. People, including women and children, rushed out of their homes in panic despite cold winds outside.
He said the epicentre of the tremors was in Hindukush region in Afghanistan at a depth of 100 km, Latitude 36.2 degrees North and Longitude 70.5 degrees East.
There was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property in the quake. (UNI)
