Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Jammu coming up model city’ DE April 17.
The author has genuinely expressed resentment over growing traffic problems and bad condition of roads in the city.
However, it may be said here that if Government is responsible for poor condition of roads, so are people for their irresponsible behaviour on roads. The teenagers particularly are at fault. Unless people realise that traffic rules are to be followed, there are no chances of improving traffic scenario in the city. Since it is difficult for people to observe traffic rules on their own volition, the Traffic Department must ensure strict implementation of rules. Those who do not observe them should be made to pay through their nose.
The number of road accidents taking place on our roads is increasing day by day. The road accidents not only consume precious lives, but often results in brawls between motorists. There is urgent need to arrest this trend.
People have been raising this issue, time and again but nobody seems concerned about it.
Yours etc….
Aditya Rani
