JeM ultra of Kashmir arrested in RS Pura

JAMMU, Apr 11: In a major success, RS Pura police today arrested a Kashmiri militant of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit and recovered mobile telephones and SIM cards from a Pakistani militant lodged in high security Kot Bhalwal jail through which the militants were in touch with their mentors in Pakistan and were planning a major terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Arrested militant has been identified as Mohammad Muzaffar Beigh son of Asadullah Beigh, a resident of village Batpora in Handwara area of Kupwara district in Kashmir.
On a specific information, RS Pura police station team led by SHO Inspector Jaipal Sharma arrested the militant under the supervision of SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil and SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan.
The militant had reached Jammu on March 17 before lockdown and was changing his locations. He was putting up at the residence of his one of the known persons in RS Pura when he was arrested by the police.
During questioning, the militant reportedly disclosed that he had come to meet Jaish-e-Mohammad militant Abdul Rehman Mughal of Pakistan, who had been arrested in Baramulla and was presently lodged in Kot Bhalwal jail here.
Police parties conducted raids at Kot Bhalwal Jail and recovered mobile telephones and SIM cards from the possession of Mughal.
Sources said Beigh and Mughal were not only in touch with each other through mobile telephones but also with their mentors in Pakistan using social media including WhatsApp.
They were reportedly planning a major terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Beigh (24) was arrested in a pre-dawn raid on a house in Chakroi village and his interrogation led the police to Kot Bhalwal jail, sources said.
They said in addition to mobile telephones and SIM cards, police also recovered a charger, a headphone and a memory card from the possession of Mughal and Farhan Fayaz Lillu of Baramulla district of North Kashmir .
A case has been registered and further investigation is on, sources said.
They added that Beigh had reached Chakroi village of R S Pura on March 17 and was residing in the house of the local since then due to the ongoing lockdown.
The house owner was also taken into custody for questioning, they said.
Earlier, sources said some incriminating documents were recovered from the arrested militant, whose questioning revealed his links with JeM terrorists.
He is a hardcore militant and some more arrests are expected on his disclosure, they said.
A case under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has been registered against the militant and further investigation is on.
