MNS celebrates 87th Raising Day

MNS Officers during ‘87th Raising Day’ celebration at Jammu on Monday.

JAMMU, Oct 1: Military Nursing Service (MNS) celebrated its “87th Raising Day” at Command Hospital, Northern Command.
A simple function was organised to commemorate the day with Brigadier Louise Dahal, Principal Matron and all the Nursing Officers taking the nurses pledge with candle lighting.
Brigadier Louise Dahal exhorted Nursing Officers for providing service to all ranks of the Defence services and their dependents and exhorted them to maintain the same tradition in future also.
The MNS has its origin from Army Nursing Service formed in 1881 as part of the Royal Army. After the end for the first World War on October 1, 1926, nursing services was granted permanent status in the Army and October 1, formally recognized as the formation day of Military Nursing Service.
The mission of MNS is excellence in patient care both in war and peace, which is pursued with utmost fervor, zeal and zest. Apart from the professional activities, MNS Officers have also participated in sports and adventure activities at National and International levels.
The officers of the MNS have strived to achieve professional excellence with sheer perseverance, dedication and will to deliver. The endeavour always is to wipe out every tear from the eyes of the wounded and to bring a smile despite adversity. They have strived to ensure health delivery service in the Armed Forces medical service remains a vibrant system and to emulate their moto at all times, which is ‘Service to all with a Smile’.
