NOWSHERA, July 18: Many workers engaged under MNREGA from Noniyal Panchayat and adjoining areas have been suffering as remained unpaid for months together by the concerned RDD officials.
Rakesh Kumar Panch from Upper Noniyal alleged that in ward number 10 of the Panchayat and adjoining areas many works were got done under MNREGA scheme. Payment worth Rs 80,000 has not been paid by the concerned Junior engineer and the poor workers are suffering. He said as per norms the workers should be paid with in 24 hours but the department officials have not paid the wages of poor workers for the last more than seven months.
A small amount of just Rs 17,000 was released in December last year while remaining payment has remained un cleared. The Panchayat members have sought the intervention of Director RDD Jammu in this regard.
