JAMMU, Oct 23: A delegation of Mubarak Mandi Bachao Andolan (MMBA) today met Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, and submitted him a memorandum demanding handing over of Mubarak Mandi complex to Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
While taking up the issue of Mubarak Mandi with Divisional Commissioner, the delegation stressed for early action in the matter as the condition of the historically important building is fast deteriorating.
The delegation also registered its opposition against the proposal of some quarters to make the Mubarak Mandi a hotel rather than emphasizing the preservation of this magnificent Dogra heritage.
The delegation also expressed deep anguish over destruction of raised platform already existing in the Mubarak Mandi Park and demanded enquiry and action in the matter.
The Divisional Commissioner informed the delegation that his office has already made and submitted an action plan regarding this to the State Government wherein recommendation has been made for handing over the historical Mubarak Mandi complex to the ASI for preservation, conservation and restoration.
The delegation comprised of Narsingdev Singh Jamwal (convener of MMBA), Hari Chand Jalmeria (coordinator), Udey Chand, Mohan Singh, Gianeshwar Sharma and Arvind Singh Jalmeria.
