SRINAGAR, Oct 8 : Ravinder Sharma and Jahangir Hussain Mir, Members of the State Legislative Council, called on N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here this evening.
Mr. Sharma and Mr. Mir discussed with the Governor various problems and issues relating to the speedy development of Rajouri and Poonch districts. They also briefed the Governor about the implementation of various important development and welfare schemes and programmes in the Jammu region. The Governor promised to visit Rajouri and Poonch areas in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, a copy of the Urdu version of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, brought out by the Meezan Publishers, Srinagar, was presented to Mr Vohra.
Interacting with a group of the office bearers of the Meezan Publishers and promoters of Urdu language, on the occasion, the Governor observed that the availability of the State’s Constitution in Urdu would enable a large number of interested persons to get acquainted with the citizen’s rights and duties. He added that such awareness will, in turn, engender an informed citizenry which can serve as an effective watchdog of governance.
The Governor observed that Urdu version of the State’s Constitution would be a useful addition to all the libraries and particularly benefit Urdu readers.
