JAMMU, Nov 27: Shagun Parihar, Member of Legislative Assembly from Kishtwar called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today.
Rajiv Jasrotia, Member of Legislative Assembly from Jasrota also called on Lieutenant Governor.
Gaurav Gupta, former General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, also called on Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and submitted him a memorandum highlighting pressing concerns affecting the youth and traders of Jammu and Kashmir. The memorandum underscores the need for immediate intervention in areas that hold significant implications for the Union Territory’s growth and prosperity.
Demanding extension of the upper-age limit for candidates applying for Sub-Inspector positions, Gupta pointed out that a 22-month delay in the advertisement of 752 vacancies by the Home Department resulted in many eligible aspirants exceeding the age limit. Calling this an “injustice,” he urged the administration to grant a one-time relaxation to ensure fairness and inclusivity in the recruitment process.
Seeking continuation of the Central Government’s Rs 28,400 crore industrial package. Gaurav emphasized the transformative impact of this initiative, which has attracted major companies like Dabur, ITC, and Haldiram, fostering employment and economic growth. He appealed for the package’s extension to maintain the region’s industrial momentum and boost local entrepreneurship.
Additionally, Gaurav sought financial support for existing industries in Jammu, which have long supported the local economy. He also highlighted the plight of traders at the Narwal Fruit Mandi, whose lease periods have remained unresolved for over two years. This has led to financial instability, barring traders from accessing government schemes and loans, he added.
Through the memorandum, Gaurav appealed to the Lt Governor to prioritize these issues to sustain the progress achieved in recent years. He expressed confidence in the administration’s commitment to fostering inclusive growth and addressing the challenges faced by J&K’s youth and traders.
Representatives of Bharat Sevashram Sangha also called on Lieutenant Governor. A delegation of All J&K Christian Sabha headed by its president Ashu Peter Mattoo also met the Lieutenant Governor.
