KATHUA, May 27: MLA Billawar, Satish Sharma, inaugurated the construction of Field Channels under the Command Area Development (CAD) Jammu at Srey-Beril Khul I & II in Gujroo Nagrota block. The project, with a bid cost of Rs 29 lakh under the UT Capex Budget, aims to enhance irrigation efficiency across the villages of Amubala, Beril and Srey.
Implemented by the Sub-Division Dayalachak, the initiative falls under the On-Farm Development (OFD) works of the Command Area Development program, with the goal of bridging the gap between irrigation potential created and irrigation potential utilized. The project focuses on infrastructure improvement and efficient water management to increase agricultural productivity and uplift the socio-economic conditions of farmers.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Satish Sharma reaffirmed his commitment to providing essential infrastructure for the farming community, stating that timely access to irrigation will boost both livelihoods and local agriculture. Local residents welcomed the move, expressing gratitude for addressing their long-pending demand.
Present at the event were Roshan Lal, Project Officer CAD Samba; Brij Mohan Rana, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer Dayalachak; and other officials. The MLA appreciated the efforts of the CAD officers and directed them to ensure timely execution of the project with quality control.
