RAMBAN, Feb 8: In what could be the harbinger of development and prosperity for more than 20,000 population of Gandhri, Kabbi, Bhatni, Tangar (all Panchayats) and the Duthan village of Ramban district besides the area of Udhampur district like Pancheri, Landhar, Kainth Gali, Krimchi etc., the construction of the 7 km. long Khunga to Kothi Jagir link road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) was kick started by the MLA, Ramban, Ashok Kumar today.
The road will be completed in a year at a sanctioned cost of Rs.384.30 lakh and allotted cost of Rs. 325.79 lakh has been a dream for the thousands of hapless villagers of this obscure and backward area for last many decades.
The linking of this area with the Ramban district headquarter through a road under PMGSY was the brainchild of ex-Chief Minister, G N Azad during his regime in 2007-08.
This road is an extension of an existing 12 km. long Kanga-Gandri link road, an of-shoot of Ramban-Gool road.
