UDHAMPUR, Aug 26: In connection with the problems of Udhampur town related with Municipal Council Udhampur, a meeting between Director Local Bodies and MLA Udhampur Assembly Constituency, Pawan Gupta was held at Dak Bunglow here.
Senior citizens of Udhampur and members of Chambers and Commerce and industries were also present in the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Udhampur was especially invited in the meeting.
While briefing Director Local bodies, MLA Pawan Gupta highlighted several problems, which include construction of lanes and drains of Udhampur town, poor street light system, defunct sanitation, management and conjunction in Udhampur town due to heavy traffic load and mismanagement in parking of vehicles in Udhampur town and proper management of general bus stand Udhampur, Bus Stand near Kargil Hanuman Mandir and Bus Stand Talab Salliyan.
Gupta told Director Local Bodies that at present solid waste and garbage of Udhampur town was being thrown at the bank of Tawi River which is a big thread to the health of people because this garbage and solid waste was becoming the cause to pollute the water of Tawi river which is being supplied to the people for drinking purpose. A garbage treatment plant is already sanctioned to Udhampur and he has given instructions for its early construction. He suggested that best sanitation management NGOs may be involved as being done by Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Director Local Bodies assured the MLA that very soon necessary instructions are being given to the concerned authorities of Municipal Council Udhampur. In connection with the points highlighted by Pawan Gupta, Deputy Commissioner assured that very soon land for garbage treatment plant will be identified so that construction work of may be initiated well in time .
